401(k) Plans Move a Step Closer to Pooling With Private Equity

The US Labor Department (DOL) approves access to private equity investments for ordinary Americans with retirement savings in 401Ks. Private equity investments have been generally reserved for institutional investors and wealthy individuals. The new DOL guidance helps remove barriers for ordinary investors and plan sponsors to participate in potentially high-return funds while assuming high risks related to less transparency on private investments.
